Meditation

A study suggests that transcendental meditation, aside from reducing stress, may also help those with high blood pressure live longer.

According to Chinese medicine, meditation enhances the heart and circulation functions. It is used to treat low heart energy, recovery from chronic illnesses, Alzheimer’s disease, and generally improve concentration, memory, and the ability to focus.

There are all kinds of meditation systems, and all are beneficial. A simple one is described in detail in the 2005 edition of our Chinese Almanac. It’s perhaps the simplest version of the ‘Microcosmic orbit’-type of meditation.

A more technical explanation for the interested reader: Meditation increases the Fire element, which increases heart energy and therefore improves heart, circulation and mind.
