A Swedish study suggests that there is a direct link between dementia and body weight in men.
This can be explained in terms of Chinese medicine. It believes that dementia is caused by reduced circulation, so it’s classified as a ‘Deficient Fire’ condition according to the Law of 5 elements, since mental ability belongs to the Fire element.
Excess body weight is caused by excess Water, which diminishes Fire. This is why excess weight is likely to cause heart and circulation problems as well as mental impairment, such as dementia.
Although the study focuses exclusively on men, the results are likely to be similar for women.
