A study by a pharmaceutical company found that a medication, normally used to treat epilepsy, may help reduce anger.
According to Chinese medicine, anger is caused by excess liver energy. Liver energy can be reduced by humourous or sad books, movies, etc., by listening to percussive or vocal music, by eating spicy or bitter foods, to name a few.
However, anger can also be beneficial. It can increase low heart energy, counter apathy, worry and anxiety, and calm an over-excited digestive system. Not all anger needs to be reduced.
It’s worth noting that Chinese medicine doesn’t classify emotions as being either ‘good’ or ‘bad’. Instead, it sees them as being either appropriate or inappropriate (which indicates a problem), or excessive or deficient (both cases represent problems).
